Kilt Irish Dancing!

Found this today.... her at IDM we think it's great.. nice to see boys keeping up some of the traditions that go with Irish dance. What do you lot think of boys wearing kilts to dance in?

Horse riding in Ireland

This weekend's Sunday Times Travel Section (here in the UK) ran a double page feature on Wild horse riding in Ireland. The rides all started at the Riding Stables in Killarney and lasted anything for a few hours to six days. Rob Ryan, the writer of this particular feature admitted he was not a horse lover but after a few hours in the beautiful Irish air, a top of a fine Irish filly, he was a convert. This got me thinking!!! ( I know... always dangerous)

I have been riding in many places, Ecuador, Portugal, the Isles of Scilly, Italy, even Mongolia, but I have never been fortunate enough to ride in Ireland. But it really does sound like an amazing way to take in the wild and rural countryside of Western Ireland. Perhaps those of you out in Killarney next week for the All Irelands could have a go if you have a few hours to spare?

Out of interest, how many of you guys ride as well as Irish dancing? I bet it goes well together as you need super strong leg muscles for both!

Why I love this site!

Sometimes there are certain things that occur in your life that can really make you feel sad, sorry and upset. Everyone on this site has felt like this at some point... you just have to look at the forums to see for yourself.

However, what I Love Love Love about this place is that anybody and everybody can share how they are feeling and within minutes they will have messages of support, advice and virtual hugs coming at them left right and centre.

This is what makes this place truly unique. In a way we really are one big Irish dancing family, brought together by the wonders of modern technology... and at the end of the day it is important to remember that we are all here for each other...as friends! Long may this continue!

Irish dancers hard at work!

Just seen this! I just to love watch Irish dancers hard at work! This is a great example of what it takes to get it right!

Deadline day today!

It's the time of the month again when I am ripping my hair out trying to get the next issue of the magazine to the printers! The march issue that I am working on now is such a great issue! The cover girls is such an interesting interveiwee PLUS it's a music special and we have a super cool interview with Irish Trad band Kíla! Make sure you don't miss this one when it comes out! It's smoking hot!

New year is hard

It's tough to get back in the swing of things after the Christmas holidays isn't it!

This is our second week back in the office and I have just about cleared the 1000's of emails and piles of paper on my desk...I reckon I can just about see my keyboard now!

As for my dancing lessons, I should be meeting up with Olive again any time soon... and happily I can report that all the steps from my dances are still in my head since before Christmas...lucky as I was worried I would have forgotten EVERYTHING..... Like riding a bike though it seems!

New Year: New you?

Tj and OliveTj and OliveSo, Happy new year my lovely IDMErs! Missed chatting to you all over Christmas! I trust you all had a lovely break! I did!

I have been hearing about all the new years resolutions that people across the planet make at this time of year, from eating less, going to the gym more, or even simply telling someone you love them more often. This got me thinking... are New Year's resolutions a good thing, and do we ever stick to them?

Personally, I make decisions about what I want to try to do in the year ahead, but try to avoid referring to them as a new year's resolution... this way I am more likely to stick to it.

So, What's in store for me this year? Well I want to do another Feis, that's for sure.... and I want to do better than last time....after all I have such a beautiful dress I really need to get some more wear out of it.

Secondly I want to get a bit fitter, but compared to this time last year I am ahead on this one because of taking up ID, so I just to have to keep at it.

What else? I want to meet more of you at more events. IDM always try to get to as many events as possible but sometimes it can be hard. In 2008 I want to get out and about and meet all my lovely IDM family... so remember email me tamasine@irishdancing.com and tell me when your Feis is and you never know..... I may just be able to attend.

Well, that is enough for now I reckon, oh but I mustn't forget, most importantly of all, in 2008 I want to get even more members on here and EVEN MORE readers for IDM! So if you haven't told your dancing pals about this place yet... then DO IT NOW!
